Juvederm Malaysia: Cost, Reviews and Clinics 2019

Our faces naturally lose their “baby fat” and look thinner as we age, making lines and wrinkles stand out more. Dermal fillers like Juvéderm are a popular way to temporarily add volume back. Addressing a variety of concerns like lifting your cheeks, smoothing smile lines around your mouth, and plumping lips—Juvéderm is a collection of injectable fillers made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin. It can also help fill pitted acne scars or rejuvenate the look of aging hands.

Which Juvéderm product is right for me?

Juvéderm is actually a collection of four products:

  • Juvéderm Ultra and Ultra Plus XC reduce moderate to severe parentheses lines and wrinkles around your nose and mouth. It can also be used to plump lips.
  • Juvéderm Voluma XC can lift and define your cheekbones.
  • Juvéderm Vollure XC adds fullness and plumps thin lips.
  • Juvéderm Volbella XC adds subtle volume to your lips to smooth the appearance of vertical lip lines.

How much does Juvéderm cost in Malaysia?

The average cost of Juvederm in Malaysia is about MYR 2,000 per ml/syringe.

It usually takes two syringes for the nasolabial areas [smile lines], one syringe for the lips, and two syringes for under the eyes.

  • Nasolabial areas (both sides): about MYR 4,000.
  • Upper lip: about MYR 2,000.
  • Under the eyes (both sides): about MYR 4,000.
Typically, results last about six months to two years, depending on the type of Juvéderm injected.

Many factors affect cost, including the number of areas treated, the experience level of the provider, and your location. The total price you are paying would normally include the doctor’s fee, the cost of the filler and the cost of the local anesthesia. Most original and branded fillers come in the form of a pre-filled (1ml) syringe. An inexperienced doctor, may use up more fillers and may cost you more.

Some centres may offer 'cheap' dermal fillers but how do you know that the fillers are not fake? Check out this article from the Star Media: Beware! Fake fillers can wreck your Face.

When choosing an aesthetic doctor for dermal filler injections, remember that the doctor's experience is just as important as the final cost of the procedure.

Are there effective alternatives to Juvéderm?

There are many facial fillers available, but the filler most commonly compared to Juvéderm is Restylane. Both are FDA-approved and contain hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in skin. Providers noted a few differences between the two fillers in a RealSelf Q&A:

  • Juvéderm settles in more smoothly than Restylane and is less likely to form a bump in the tissue. However, this also means it’s difficult to build up Juvéderm.
  • A Juvéderm treatment uses a complete syringe, which can’t be shared or stored to use again later.
  • Providers report Juvéderm is easier to inject correctly.
  • Restylane injections will typically last 6 to 18 months.

Is Juvéderm permanent?

Juvéderm will naturally be broken down and reabsorbed by your body over time, and it can also be dissolved with an injection of hyaluronidase. Typically, results last about six months to two years, depending on the type of Juvéderm injected.

“Permanent fillers aren't a great idea for almost anyone,” says Dr. F. Victor Rueckl, a Las Vegas dermatologist, in a RealSelf Q&A. “What if you don't like it? What if as you age your facial shape changes a bit? What if you need some kind of rhinoplasty or other nose procedure years from now? What happens to the permanent filler then?”

How long will my Juvéderm results last?

On average, Juvéderm will last six months to two years. How long Juvéderm will last varies from person to person and the specific Juvéderm product, but can be influenced by the area injected and the skill of the injector. If you’re very active, your body may process Juvéderm more quickly, and your results won’t last as long.

What are the side effects of Juvéderm?

Choosing an injector with extensive Juvéderm experience can help reduce any potential risks or side effects.

Under the Malaysian guidelines on aesthetic medical practice, only doctors with credentials (LCP Chapter 1,2 and 3) can inject dermal fillers in Malaysia.

“Beauticians can be hauled up by the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) if they portray themselves as doctors or they carry out procedures that only doctors can do under the guidelines on aesthetic medical practice,..."
